With the growing popularity, year after year of UMF, the organization has decided to release a movie/documentary detailing this years event. Something to look forward to if youve never been.
Having gone for the first time myself this year, I must say it is quite the experience, but not for just anyone. I found myself enjoying the music and the production value, but was not able to stick around for long periods of time. This preview does a good job of NOT showing you how dirty the actual event is on the grounds.
I would expect a wide range of DJ/EDM/Festival Videos to begin to emerge after the success of the Justice documentary from a few years ago, along with The Swedish House Mafia: Take One from late last year.
Save The World came into the light of day as the eagerly anticipated 3rd single from the three members of Swedish House Mafia jointed. Vocals of fairly unknown Swedish singer John Martin, the single busted iTunes' and many other digital stores' global charts within the hour on May 13th. Still being on an ascent, a remix package was announced just days afterwards. In front of two million listeners, the world heard Pete Tong giving hugely talented Alesso's remix a world exclusive spin in his weekly Essential Selection on BBC Radio 1.
It's now time to shed light on the next challenger for the upcoming remix package. Hailing from Sweden capital, Style of Eye and Carli - a couple of producers known for their distinguished sounds and with releases on Refune and Universal under their belt, they are now firing across their remix to EMI headquarters for the awaited release on June 10th in Europe and Australia and 14th worldwide.. Whilst maintaining the stripped piano lead of the original, the two Swedes deliver an offering, crammed with immense catchy tones and sounds, enhancing the tripod's original to a full-on, feel-good club peak-timer.

1 Week before he is set to land in Toronto for a special set at MOD CLUB FRIDAYS, Thomas Gold Has released the much anticipated "GOLDCAST". A podcast dedicated to people who not only have a large appreciation for house music, but for the technique and exclusivity that Thomas Gold brings to the table.
The original of this song was from 1993. When most of us made music with pots and pans. It was an important song in house music culture back then and now 3 remixes have surfaced to revive this classic. Superskank being my favourite so its up top.

They instantly became an industry standard appearing in clubs and festivals in early 2010. Now We have the DJM 900. News about this mixer has been around for quite some time, but for all your aspiring DJS, watch the 15 minute video below regarding the mixer and get a good run through from James Zabiela.

he DJM-900 Nexus follows Pioneer’s traditional control layout enabling an easy transition to the mixer. As with other Pioneer mixers, the DJM-900 Nexus features a variety of advanced sound effects that allow DJs to have more creative expressions while mixing their music. Three new Sound Color FX, two Beat Effects and an X-Pad control were added to the mixer to enhance the user’s performance.
Sound Color FX – The DJM-900 Nexus includes Space, Dub Echo and Gate/Comp in addition to Filter, Crush and Noise for its Sound Color FX. At any time with a simple twist of the knobs, DJs can quickly add their choice of audio effects bringing numerous combinations and arrangements to currently played music.
Beat Effect – A total of 13 effects, including two new ones called Spiral and Melodic, can be added by the user at any time to the beat effects is accomplished through a selectable knob located on the right side of the mixer.
X-Pad – A touch screen control bar that enables quick access, control, and manipulation of the thirteen built-in beat effects. With a touch and/or slide of the X-Pad control, the user can change the parameters of each effect for further creativity in performances.
Part of the DJM-900 Nexus’s design attribute is combining functionality with great sound quality. The mixer utilizes high quality components that ensure the best possible audio output when connected to other components.
Built-in 24bit/96kHz High Performance USB Sound card – Pioneer developed an onboard USB sound card that can simultaneously handle input and output audio signals from up to four (4) stereo sources through a single USB port1. The sound card supports 24-bit/96kHz high resolution signal processing, and can input and output all audio signals with no degradation of sound quality. Once connected to a PC or Mac, the settings utility tool can be used to customize the mixer’s output signal path to suit various purposes, such as DJ play, song recording or production2. Furthermore, smooth transfers between DJs are possible with the easily accessible USB ports on the top surface of the mixer.
Sound Quality Design –The DJM-900 Nexus is equipped with the same audio input and output circuits as Pioneer’s flagship DJM-2000 to achieve the most accurate audio reproduction from connected sources. The 32-bit digital to analog converter supports all outputs of the mixer, including the master audio outputs, booth outputs as well as headphones. Additionally, the built-in high performance 32-bit digital signal processor (DSP) suppresses any digital and analog circuit noise by way of high quality balanced hybrid operation amps and full balanced output circuits.
With more DJs continuing to use their personal computers as part of their rig, the new DJM-900nexus is ready for a direct connection to a laptop PC or Mac, increasing its convenience and functionality.
PRO DJ LINK – Via an Ethernet (LAN) cable, the mixer can quickly link to the latest Pioneer PRO DJ LINK compatible CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 players (with firmware version 4.00 or later3) or a personal computer running Pioneer’s rekordbox™ software, giving users fast access to a song’s beats per minute (BPM) and beat location information, resulting in a precise beat matching capability. Furthermore, the built-in quantize mode compensates for Beat Effect operation timing errors automatically, so effects are matched perfectly.
TRAKTOR™ Functionality – Using a USB connection with a PC or Mac, the four decks (players) inside TRAKTOR can be connected simultaneously with the mixer, enabling enhanced flexibility with the software. In addition, the mixer is also TRAKTOR SCRATCH4 certified for TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO / DUO 2, allowing scratch control functionality when using a time code disc5.
Time Code Output – Through its USB port, the mixer can output time code disc signals for DVS (Digital Vinyl System) software6 when used with a Pioneer CDJ player or analog record player. DJ play using DVS software can be done without difficult and complicated connections7.
The DJM-900nexus is equipped with additional features that add to the user’s DJ play.
High performance channel faders – The slide mechanism supports the fader knobs with two metal shafts for both longevity and smooth operability Furthermore, the new mechanism’s design minimizes the effects of moisture or dust particles on the mixer’s performance capabilities.
Integrated input selector – Enables users to simultaneously switch all channel inputs.
Indicators – The DJM-900nexus is equipped with a “USB connection indicator” to display the status of sound card and PC or Mac communications as well as a “USB audio input indicator” to display audio inputs from a PC or Mac.
Industry’s First MIDI Signal Output8 – The DJM-900nexus features the industry’s first musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) signal output that changes at beat-by-beat intervals. The mixer also includes a “MIDI LFO function” to control external devices such as effecters.
Assignable MIDI Functionality – Nearly all knobs and buttons operation information can be assigned to control other devices. The mixer can also be used as a MIDI controller.
Switching 3-Band EQ/Isolator – Each channel of the mixer is equipped with a switchable 3-band EQ (+6dB to -26dB) and 3-band Isolator (+6dB to -?dB).
P-LOCK Fader Cap – Keeps the fader channel and crossfader knobs (caps) locked preventing them from physically slipping off during use.
Auto Standby – Automatically senses the presence of active operation and input signals and switches to standby mode when inputs are not detected for a long period of time.

Sidney Samsons new tune ”Filter” is the latest original to be dropped sometime in May, which features a very enchanting melodic pattern, layered with a wobble type element, into a rolling Dutch bass line.
Words cannot describe the feeling I had, after spending the day at the Beatport pool party, the night at Ultra Music Festival, and the later part of night and early part of my morning at Space Miami during the closing party for Miami Music week this year. Sharam was the last thing I was able to hang on for and it was unbelievable. I was so tired, so drained and wanted to hit the bed, but he kept me going. Right as I was about to call it quits, he plays "Spin Spin Sugar" and had me there for another 20 minutes.

DJ/ Producer REJOYCE hits decks hard in the New York Underground Dance Music scene. REJOYCE [Colin Joyce] is a born and raised New York native, who continues to grind and bang- out techy jams, and grooving house music overnight.
Since then, REJOYCE has been putting his music and name on the map producing top hits on beatport and delivering jaw dropping live sets. He has been working hard in the studio and his debut EP 'Top March' has been turning heads ever since its release in mid Februrary. Since then he has held the #1 download on Beatport for Fever Sound Records for over a month, and has been supported by DJ's like Wally Lopez, Luciano, Andrew Wickes, Amin Orf, Crazy Minds, & many more.
He also recently rocked the floor at Pacha NYC for Max vangeli, and will be playing for Chris Lake and Calvin Harris in April 2011. Colin has produced a variety of different tracks, and remixes that have earned him some attention from other budding producers. Watch out for his two upcoming EP's: 'Hop Scotch' EP on Benny Records, and 'Thrill of Mine' EP on Fever Sound Records. Expect big things from REJOYCE in the 2011.

If you remember the weeks leading up to Miami Music Week at the end of March, then you will remember the Toolroom Compilation that swept the beatport top 10 spots and presented a wicked tracklist to prepare yourself for the parties that took place that week. Toolroom is back with the first Volume in what is set to be a big release of new tracks to gear up for the summer "Ibiza" months.
My own opinion will tell you, pay close attention to the label, get familiar with their name because they will bring the new wave of music that will replace a lot of the music being produced today that sounds copied. Label boss Mark Knight never seems to leave me disappointed.

Deadmau5 has announced his next North American Tour, spanning just over 5 months and beginning at the end of this month in Vegas, where he will end off in Toronto November 5th.TicketMaster Link.
Although I must admit i have lost interest in his production material so I wouldnt say this is necessarily an event I look forward to, however there are many people excited about him playing a venue like Rogers Centre. I mean if the dude sells this out, after his last couple releases being short from anything like his old days, then it proves its all the head. The branding power behind that head is something they will write textbooks about. My respect to him for continuing to do his thing, that tough criticism he receives isn't easy, but hes still making music.

Awakenings in the Techno Organization in Holland, putting together massive parties featuring the worlds best Techno producers. Really amazing parties that have yet to be seen in this magnitude here in Toronto.
Strongly Advise you to start playing from the 5:30 min mark and watch till it drops. Absolutely amazing stuff in the underground techno scene
