5 things you (probably) didn't know about techno:
  1. The name was inspired by Alvin Toffler's book The Third Wave
  2. Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May and Eddie Fowlkes are recognized as the founders of Detroit techno
  3. Ford Motors used to incorporate techno into their commercials, because they noted techno was created partly by the pounding clangor of its auto factories
  4. A very good documentary, explaining history of techno is Hi-tech Soul
  1. Some DJs nowadays use laptops instead of players to play music. Rolling on laptops is sometimes referred also as laptronica.
A post introducing many to Techno, not something widely played by DJs that most of us are graced with, more of an enthusiasts scene, and known to be "that shit they play when youre fucked at afterhours".

One guy just topping the charts, travelling the world with two of the biggest in the industry, dubfire and Carl Cox, is actually Toronto local, Carlo lio, so look out for his name and check him out. If you read this post before Saturday, he will be playing in Niagra at Shoreline Festival along with many other house music djs from Toronto.
